Sounds Historical

Sibford Gower barn

7pm, 18 October 2026 at The Manor House, Sibford Gower

We're excited to present Sounds Historical at our next Sibford Session.

Sounds Historical is a specialist early music ensemble whose repertoire spans the medieval to the 18th century. Performing on an array of period instruments including viols, recorders, theorbo, gittern, crumhorns, flutes and lutes, each member of the group performs and records with a wide variety of early music groups, and are all passionate about their work in music education. From mythology to mathematics, their programme explores awe-inspiring aspects of early modern life. The programme includes music by William Herschel (the court astronomer to George III), John Munday, J.S. Bach, Alessandro Piccinini, Francesco Soriano, Monteverdi, Marc-Antoine Charpentier, Henry Purcell, Georg Philippe Telemann, Galileo Galilei, and an anonymous ballad celebrating Chester’s unexpected monstrous fish!
